    DOTI-Infrastructure Projects Management oversees a $40 to $50 million annual capital improvement program for the city’s storm system, sanitary system, and green infrastructure. This program includes the planning, design, and construction management of the capital improvements. Types of projects include large diameter storm systems, regional water quality facilities, gulch and stream reconstruction, streetside storm planters, sanitary pipe lining projects, and even park improvements.

    The DOTI-Infrastructure Design team has an opening for a Senior Engineer. This position would be part of a team of six engineers. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll have an opportunity to manage large storm, sanitary, and green infrastructure projects with multi-disciplinary aspects that may include multi-modal transportation elements, signal design, parks and recreation features, and other engineering disciplines. This position also includes the planning and design of in-house efforts to address local problems impacting the community using Auto-CAD, GIS mapping and analysis, and other planning/design tools.

    An important role you’ll have as a Senior Engineer is to manage consultant design teams. You will also be able to:

    - Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of major planning and design efforts;
    - Manage consultant design teams with technical direction and review;
    - Perform in-house design of projects to address local issues;
    - Coordinate projects with internal and external agencies, utility owners, and community stakeholders;
    - Help improve and standardize the management of DOT-Infrastructure projects;
    - Update project management tools and report project status to management;

    And provide support to the improve the function of the organization.
    Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    - Perform full professional level engineering work on a variety of large and complex engineering projects and assignments from inception to completion, which includes reviewing construction plans and designs for conformance and compliance, providing technical engineering oversight and guidance, coordinating project phases, and recommending solutions to complex engineering issues and problems
    - Work with stakeholders both internal and external to the city, which includes attending neighborhood meetings; working with intergovernmental organizations; and interacting with utility companies, other city agencies, other departments, elected officials
    - Participate and lead community engagement efforts through forums, public meetings, and workshops
    - Coordinate projects with the One-Build program and ensure that opportunities are identified to combine funding and project design and construction to minimize impact to the community
    - Prepare project bid materials and cost estimates, which includes evaluating bid qualifications and proposals, and work with stakeholders on project designs, concepts, and timeframes for project completion
    In-house design of local projects including preparation of design drawings, specifications, and other bid documents; coordination with other city projects, stake holders, other city agencies, and elected officials, manage the review process, and provide construction design support
    - Prepare project budgets in the planning and design phase, determines work plans and schedules, monitors project budgets and expenditures throughout design, and ensures project deliverables stay on-time and target, ensures quality control, and the project stays on budget
    - Prepare a variety of engineering studies, correspondences, and reports, for wastewater and storm drainage projects, capital improvements projects, prepare feasibility studies, conduct traffic control studies, reviews consultant proposals and contracts, develop project communications plans
    - Reviews projects to ensures compliance with engineering codes and standards, monitors projects for quality, identifies strategies to overcome barriers, and reviews calculations

    While the full pay range of this Job Classification is $89,369.00 - $142,990.00, our target hiring salary for this position is between $89,369.00 - $116,180.00 depending on education, experience and qualifications.
    Requirements (Education, Level of Experience, etc.) 
     

    Our ideal candidate will have:
    - Five to 10 years progressive experience in the management and design of storm, sanitary, and green infrastructure projects with the City and County of Denver or equivalent municipality
    - Experience with highly complex, multi-discipline projects that may include additional components including transportation, signals, and bike lanes
    - Strong communication skills and experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders and the public through community engagement examples
    - A collaborative approach to working in a team environment with complex project issues
    - Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office, ArcMap, AutoCAD Civil 3d, CUHP/SWMM, FLO2D

    Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

    Experience: Three (3) years of professional engineering work experience after obtaining a Professional Engineering (PE) license.

    License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.

    Requires registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers at the time of application.

    Registration in another state will be accepted in lieu of this requirement, provided that the applicant has Colorado registration at completion of probation.

    Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

    Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted.

    Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements.
