Job Description / Primary Objective
|
Gruen Associates, an award winning Los Angeles landscape, architectural and planning firm, is seeking an intermediate landscape architect or designer with abilities to design, manage projects and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary teams. Landscape construction knowledge, attention to detail, and strong visual, graphic and speaking abilities are highly valued. Applicant should pull from all experiences and have flexibility to design at a range of scales and related environments. Candidates should have knowledge of the typical design process and be self- motivated and have the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities will include field investigation, research, analysis, planning, sustainable design, graphics production, CAD drafting + modeling, and public outreach. Gruen’s Urban Design, Planning and Landscape Department provides urban/streetscape design, planning, landscape architecture and planning, and transportation services to public and private clients on the local, regional, state, national and international levels. We have new projects coming up in 2018 and need applicants that are excited about helping shape the changing public realm in Los Angeles.

Key Aspects of Position:
Prepares information and drawings for analyses and reports, including project design narratives.
Develops design sketches, graphics and renderings for presentation materials.
Design process from Concept to Construction Documentation
Construction administration and on-site construction observation
Project management duties to include project schedule and budget
Engage with clients with well-articulated proposals and presentations
Generate high quality project graphics.

| Requirements (Education, Level of Experience, etc.) |
3-6 years professional experience
Basic understanding of urban design principles associated with project design
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
Writing and communication skills
Organizes and plans sufficiently to execute tasks
Self-checks work for accuracy and legibility
Education:
Degree in Landscape Architecture
