    Curbside & Parking, a division within Transportation Operations, is responsible for managing all parking and curbside resources for the City and County of Denver. This includes off-street parking facility management, on-street parking and curbside resource management, including signs, metered parking spaces, and meter operations. The team also operates several ongoing programs including residential parking, car share, valet, bike parking, and on and off-street EV car charging stations. As leaders in the parking and curbside management field, the team works through all projects and ongoing programs to implement the goals of Denver’s Mobility Action Plan.

    The Senior Engineering Associate reports to the Manager of On-Street Programs within the Curbside & Parking group. This position oversees the implementation of DOTI’s signed restrictions, parking programs, and Curbside Access Plans.

    Job Responsibilities

    •Review detailed project plans, site development plans, and construction work plans submitted through the Transportation Engineering Plan (TEP) process. Assist project engineer and/or construction engineer with recommendations for designs and modifications to assure compliance with city, state and federal standards and goals. Inspects work to ensure compliance with regulations, codes, and standards
    •Write work orders for City transportation crews and private contractors to install or replace signs, meters and pavement markings
    •Perform field surveys, conduct transportation and parking studies, inspect work orders completed by city staff and private contractors, complete on-site reviews to establish or modify parking signage, meters and other curbside needs
    •Design and innovate signs for both on-street and off-street applications. Prepare, maintain and provide public and internal maps and mapped data for specific parking areas
    •Customer service. Receive, investigate, and respond to citizen requests through Denver 311, internal DOTI or CCD agencies, City Council, and others as requested and determined
    •Assists in evaluating and analyzing city systems related to parking to ensure systems are properly utilized, maintained and recommends potential system improvement
    •Coordinates work assignments with affected utilities, other city agencies, outside governmental municipalities, business and/or community groups, the public, and other stakeholders. Prepares various reports and maintains files and related records of work
    •Provides support to engineering functions, operations and planning within DOTI Transportation; update manuals and standards, implement new programs prepare estimates on level of effort for work programs, and other support as required
    Requirements (Education, Level of Experience, etc.) Our ideal candidate will have:

    •Problem solving skills - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and makes recommendations
    •Strong customer service skills. Experience working with the public and internal stakeholders. Ability to deescalate and show respect for the views and contributions of other team members
    •Knowledge of multimodal transportation, parking and curbside best practices
    •Competency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, GIS, MS Office and Visio; Cartegraph, and ability to learn new applications

    Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field

    Experience: Three (3) years of technical engineering experience

    License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application

    Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

    Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education

    Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
